Abstract

The Castilian translation of L.A. Seneca’s Epistulae Morales, which contains 75 of the 124 letters of the Senecan corpus, commissioned by Fernán Pérez de Guzmán in the fifteenth century, was based on a Tuscan translation, which in its turn derived from the French vulgarization of the Epistulae. The present study investigates the textual tradition in the light of recent studies and critical editions of other vulgarizations and peninsular translations.
