Onomastica e traduttologia: analisi di un corpus di film d’animazione Disney
Abstract
Drawing on a corpus of dubbed animated films produced by Walt Disney, the paper investigates the forms and the functions of fictional names and some aspects of their translation, given that the attribution of names to characters relies on connotative or cultural references. The aim is to focus on the linguistic and cultural problems posed by the rendering of American English fictional names into Italian and to discuss the strategies to solve them, but also to reconstruct the ‘norms’ that govern the process of translation in the animated production system.
