Abstract

In this paper I discuss the results of a linguistic experimentation carried out in an Italian Comprehensive school on the teaching of copular sentences, which are usually problematic issues for students. Using recent linguistic literature on this topic, I offered pupils a new simpler view on copular structures and gave them some practical tools they could use in exercises. Moreover, I tried to push them to use their innate linguistic competence, thus improving their grammar skills and their ability to reflect upon human language.
