Abstract

This paper outlines a taxonomical analysis between Italian and French based on the Lexicon-grammar developed by Maurice Gross. The study focuses on syntactic features concerning verb phrases which introduce indirect interrogative clauses. The purpose is to underline syntactic differences and co-occurrences between synonymous verbs belonging to different languages. The comparative analysis shows that synonymy is not always an indicator of syntactic equivalence.
